We advertise 24/7 availability because these situations don't follow a schedule. But not every call needs a technician on-site within the hour, and it's worth knowing the difference so you know what to expect when you call.
Call immediately if...
- There's active exposure risk — for example, suspected fentanyl contamination in a space people are currently using
- Blood or bodily fluids are present and the area needs to be used again soon (a bathroom, a bedroom, a business entrance)
- A crime scene has just been released by investigators and you want it addressed as soon as possible
- A recovered stolen vehicle needs to be tested before anyone drives it
In these situations, call right away. We treat these as priority and will talk through timing with you on the same call.
A scheduled appointment often makes more sense if...
- The affected area is already contained or unused (a garage, a storage space, a vacant unit)
- You're coordinating with an insurance adjuster or investigator and waiting on a specific date
- You want time to document the scene yourself first, for records or insurance purposes
These are still important jobs — they just don't require the fastest possible response, which can sometimes mean a more convenient appointment window for you.
When in doubt, call anyway
You don't need to self-diagnose the urgency of your situation before calling. Tell us what's going on, and we'll help figure out whether this needs an immediate response or whether scheduling for later today or tomorrow works better. There's no wrong reason to call.
Not sure if your situation is urgent? Call and we'll figure it out together.
